Overture Center for the Arts President Tom Carto announced that Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society (BDDS), a chamber music company based in Madison, will join Overture as a summer resident company. BDDS is the first of this newly created class of Overture resident. The group’s summer residency will run June 1 – August 31 each year.
“We welcome BDDS to the Overture family. This group offers high quality chamber music that appeals to a wide audience. BDDS makes chamber music accessible, and at Overture, we strive to broaden audiences for the arts, so it’s a perfect fit,” said Carto.
Now in its second decade, Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society prides itself on bringing “chamber music with a bang” to audiences throughout South Central Wisconsin. BDDS began as collaboration between flutist Stephanie Jutt and pianist Jeffrey Sykes in 1992. Since then, the pair has worked tirelessly to attract other world-class musicians to the Madison area to play in a summer chamber music festival. For more information on BDDS’s 17th annual summer chamber music festival, which runs June 13 – 29, 2008, visit www.bachdancinganddynamite.org. Some concerts during the festival will be performed in the Playhouse at Overture Center.
