The works of Fritsch and Wallen each play with randomness in composition, deny subject matter, and reference Abstract Expressionism. Working with photographs, Fritsch analyzes patterns found in nature and the accessibility of pictorial space. Wallen employes texture and color in his “intentional randomness” to create wall assemblages made from wooden toothpicks, stir sticks and plastic straws and maximize the presence of each piece.
