Internationally celebrated Jazz pianist/composer and Eau Claire native Geoffrey Keezer was nominated for Grammy awards in 2009 and 2010. Mr. Keezer's career took off in 1989 when, at age 18, he joined the legendary Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Since then, Mr. Keezer has performed and recorded worldwide with virtually all the living legends of jazz. His Overture engagement will be mainly a solo performance of jazz standards, Latin-tinged compositions, contemporary pop songs and original improvisations, with occasional accompaniment by esteemed Lawrence University Music Professor, Dane Richeson, on percussion. Be there at 8:00 PM when Mr. Keezer starts the evening with a brief pre-concert talk about his music.
This program is made possible by grants from the John and Carolyn Peterson Charitable Foundation and the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission, with additional support from the Overture Foundation, and promotional support from Isthmus and WORT-FM.
